Sciatic Pain Relief – Don’t Just Treat The Pain
If you are looking for information on sciatic pain relief, I don’t need to tell you how painful and debilitating sciatica pain can be.
What kind of pain do you have?
- Sharp pain/burning/soreness that shoots down your leg
- Pain in your lower back, buttocks
- Tingling, numbness, or pins and needles from your lower back to your feet
- Does it hurt to walk, sit, or move in certain ways?
Sciatica pain takes many different forms because there are many different causes of sciatica-like symptoms.
Normally, if you search for information about sciatica, you’ll find information about the four main causes of sciatica. To get them out of the way, let me list the four main causes of sciatica.
1. Herniated Disk/Bulging Disk/Slipped Disk
2. Piriformis Syndrome
3. Spinal Stenosis
4. Spondylolisthesis
But these conditions are just the immediate causes of the pain. You doctor will help you treat the pain with pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs. Your doctor will probably also recommend that you see a physical therapist.
Unfortunately most doctors and physical therapists focus on treating the pain but not the underlying problems that led to the sciatica in the first place.
If you are serious about finding long term sciatic pain relief, then you need to focus on the underlying causes of these conditions!
The key to long term sciatic pain relief (and most other spinal/back pain as well) is to focus on identifying and correcting underlying physical dysfunctions and muscle imbalances.
What are muscle imbalances?
Every muscle in your body is engaged in a constant tug-o-war with opposing muscle groups. Usually the muscle groups are evenly matched and support your body as a well choreographed team. Frequently, however, one set of muscles will begin to weaken as another becomes stronger and tighter. The creates an unbalanced system that puts excessive pressure on various parts of your body. Just like a car that is out of alignment, the problems get worse and compound over time. Eventually things start to go seriously wrong and your body starts sending out the alarm in the form of pain.
How are muscle imbalances related to sciatic pain relief?
Muscle imbalances are the underlying cause of just about every form of sciatica. You can treat the pain, but that doesn’t fix the problem. If you want to fix the problem and find long term pain relief from sciatica, you need to focus on correcting these imbalances. Most people walk around with at least one or two of these and don’t even know it, at least for a while.
Fortunately muscle imbalances are easy to correct. First you need to identify which ones you have. Second, you need to customize the treatment to your particular imbalances. Doesn’t that sound logical? It’s easy too.

Introducing a new approach to sciatic pain relief!
If you look around online, you’ll find a lot of information about the causes and treatment of sciatica. A lot of it sounds pretty technical and confusing. They probably mention the four main causes of sciatica:
1. Herniated Disk/Bulging Disk/Slipped Disk
2. Piriformis Syndrome
3. Spinal Stenosis
4. Spondylolisthesis
If you’ve been diagnosed with any of these conditions, your doctor probably prescribed some pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and probably recommended a few exercises.
This is where most doctors and treatment programs fail. They treat the immediate pain, but they don’t treat the underlying causes the sciatica in the first place.
I was researching the various sciatica treatment programs available online. For the most part I was underwhelmed by what I found. The vast majority seemed to be focused mainly on treating the pain, with little of no coverage of long term pain prevention strategies.
But I finally found a program that I can recommend. I think you’ll like it. It goes deep into the underlying conditions that cause most forms of sciatica and most forms of back pain as well. You’ll learn to diagnose these muscle
What is a muscle imbalance?
The muscles in your body are in a constant state of tug-o-war with your body. Usually, our muscles are evenly matched with opposing muscle groups. But sometimes, one group of muscles grows stronger while the opposing muscle grows weaker. Usually we don’t notice these imbalances. Most people have at least one or two muscle imbalances but are aware of them. But much like a car thats out of alignment, these muscle imbalances get worse over time until more serious problems result. Eventually the body has enough and raises the red flag of pain.
What do muscle imbalances have to do with sciatica?
Muscle imbalances are the root cause of almost all forms of sciatica and back pain. A muscle imbalance can pull the spine out of alignment, causing a bulging disk that puts pressure on the nerve. Or a muscle imbalance can strain the muscles in pelvis and buttocks to press against the sciatic nerve, causing piriformis syndome.
